Hi Reader,
🏌️♂️ Should All Your Golf Clubs Be The Same Brand?
We’ve been diving into whether your clubs should be the same brand, whether your driver should match your woods, should your wedges match you irons etc etc.
I must confess also. I used to be obsessed with looking 'sponsored', insisting on 'all' my gear matching!
But our in depth look into this topic has uncovered a number of key findings, backed by the fitting experts.
A proper (golf club) fitting shouldn’t match (clubs). You might be giving up a lot of performance. Head designs are so different now so being open to playing what works will always give you the best results — (Simon Cooper, Master Club Fitter at Precision Golf)
“Wedges are a critical scoring club that the public need to put more stock in [the fact that]… feel isn’t always real. You need data to drive results.” — (Nick Sherburne, Master Fitter and Founder of Club Champion)
“It makes no sense, for example, to be playing a lightweight 70–80 g graphite shaft in your irons and a stock 130 g+ steel shaft in your wedges, and expect them to feel and perform the same.”

📊 Brand vs. Performance
Too many golfers assume brand consistency equals consistency at impact.
Here's what our community thought:
- 95% said "No" to same-brand sets
- 15% thought their driver should match their woods
- 91% said your wedges should NOT match your irons.
Our research meanwhile found the top pros mix brands ruthlessly — even those under the biggest sponsorship deals!
Bottom line: Let performance data—not matching logos—drive your club choices.

Some say his form merits a spot. Others warn dual duties could backfire.
What do you think?
💬 Coming soon ...
I recently read the book 'The Elements of Scoring' by legend of the game Ray Floyd.
And I was immediately struck by this sentence in the introduction.
"Don't take this the wrong way [but] the reason people don't shoot lower scores, to be blunt, is that most people don't know how to play. Not to swing, or how to to hit the ball farther; how to play the game"
Safe to say the book got me thinking a huge amount about my approach to the game and has now led me into the world of Scott Fawcett's DECADE program.
And which quote does Fawcett cite at the outset of his game management system? You guessed it - Ray Floyd's!
It's changing my whole approach to how I'm playing and my scores are clearly improving.
So stay tuned and I'll be sharing what I find out and what difference it has made soon.
Before then as ever and most importantly I hope you're enjoying your golf and staying Golfing Focused! 👍
